Auto logout Facebook Account When you are not around using firefox addon

Leaving your Facebook account open and running off to do some chore that has taken you longer than you expected can be disastrous in ways that you cannot imagine.  A harmless prank from a friend could actually cost you alot and in case you have left your account open in a cafe and walked off, then the punishment that you have to face in cyberspace is well deserved. There are quite a few who I know, who very conveniently forget to logout before they leave their systems and have had to face embarrassment as someone or the other makes use of the chance and changes the personal details, uploads mortifying pictures etc on the account and the victim is totally unaware and does not understand the sudden influx of likes and comments on a certain post made. Well. if you ae one of those people then you are sure to be relieved to know that you can default logout of Facebook when you are not around. Here’s everything that you would want to know about it and how you can make use of it.

The Firefox add on called Auto Logout is here to help

Unfortunately, this feature is not available with any other web browser and thus the Firefox is clearly a step ahead in this aspect.

In case you are using the Firfox web browser then this is an add on that you must have, come what may.

facebook autologout feature

This add on, once installed in your system does not need any sort of trigger to start functioning. As soon as it is installed, it will start working and all you need to do is shut the Window in which you have opened Facebook and the add on will log you out of the website.

Apart from this, there is an auto logout time that has been set by the add on and that is 60 seconds, so in case your account has been unattended for more than 60 seconds, the add on will log you out of the site. But 60 seconds, does sound a bit steep and especially, if you are in office or at your college, and thus you have the choice to increase this time so that it suits our needs.

In you are wondering hw to go about this, then all that you need to do is click on the top left corner of the Firefox we browser and then a list will be displayed from which you need to click on the “Add ons” option and then all the add ons that you have installed on your system, with respect to Firefox will be displayed.

Click on the “Auto Logout” add on and then you will see all the options and settings that are changeable for it. You simply need to change the number that is present near the bottom of the list as the number corresponds to the time that add should wait for before it automatically logs out.

Automatically logging out in case you enter into a domain that does not have Facebook

This is another possible option that you have, but it can be a bit annoying case you need to visit a non Facebook domain regularly and at the same time. The oprtion is useful in case you do not really like third party sites making use of the information that you have posted about yourself on your Facebook profile, but will not be helpful in the case where you are trying to protect your account from your friends who are just waiting to ambush your account with embarrassing pictures, status updates and other posts while you are taking a drink of water near the water cooler.

It is effective all the same, as this script that I have mentioned below restricts other sites who are interested in your personal information and can get hold of it with the help of the Facebook Social Web/Social graph.

Also, you need to make a miniscule change in the ID string of your account in case you want this script to work for you. All you need to do is replace the query string of your ID with the logout string. In case you are a Firefox user then all you need to do is click on the “Account” and then right click on Logout option and choose the select copy link location and  replace your URL with the below mentioned link:

http://www.facebook.com/logout.php?h=hs793jdb78…

Make use of this default logout of Facebook when you are not around and you can be free from both your conspiring friends as well as the third party sites which have an insatiable thirst for your personal details.
